The bacurizeiro tree   is a large tree that is generally more than 20m high, reaching 40m in height and 2m in diameter. It is very ornamental because its flowers, pink, turn red and fully cover the crown.

The  bacuri  is the fruit of the bacurizeiro that, in Pará, blooms from June to August. It is one of the most popular fruits in the northern region of the country. The fruit measures about 10 cm and has a hard and resinous skin, with white pulp, pleasant aroma and intense flavor.

Use of Bacuri : The pulp is used in the preparation of juices, ice cream, jellies, sweets etc. Its bark is used in local cuisine, and the oil extracted from the plant is used for various medicinal purposes.

Properties of Bacuri : It has high levels of calcium, phosphorus, iron and vitamin C. It is considered an excellent anti-inflammatory and healing agent. It has a strong fiber content.
